Welcome to Stanhope Surgery Online
Our main phone number is 01992 635300. If you have a medical emergency please dial 999.
If the surgery is closed please phone 111, which is free. This service directs patients to the 24 hour NHS GP services available in Hertfordshire.
Please note that there is no automatic right to be registered with us. We use discretion about whom we permit to join the practice. People need to apply to register with us by providing proof of their name and address and completing the registration form. We will refuse to register people whom we consider are rude or abusive. Such people will be removed from the premises and the police will be called. Patients whom we consider are rude or abusive will be removed from the practice register. The NHS has a zero tolerance policy to abusive behaviour.
Please use the correct NHS service for your health problem. For minor illnesses (coughs, colds, upset stomach, nettle rash, insect bites, ear ache, chicken pox etc) the Government and the Doctors expect patients to self-care and self medicate at home. Please refer to the detailed self-help (self-care) section in the right hand column of our website for further information on minor illnesses.
The A&E units have said they do not want to see such minor illnesses, as this is an inappropriate use of valuable NHS resources. There is usually no need to see a Doctor or Nurse for such minor illnesses, or to phone them as these block up our appointment systems.
The Cheshunt Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) is for injuries only such as falls and broken bones. It is NOT for minor illnesses so please do not go there for coughs and colds, repeat prescriptions, emergency contraception etc.
The surgery is housed in a purpose built, modern premises, situated in Stanhope Road, off Monarchs Way, opposite Wickes DIY store. We are next door to the Waltham Cross Health Centre. Bus Routes 217, 242, 301, 310A and 360 and BR Station at Theobalds Grove and Waltham Cross Shopping Centre are all within walking distance. We have ample parking for patients and a disabled bay. All consulting rooms are situated on the ground floor with wheelchair access and a toilet for the disabled. There is a main waiting room and children’s waiting room.
This website is for both existing patients and those considering registering with us (please note at present we are no longer registering new patients). It tells you about our services, how to access them and some general information about how the practice operates.
